The Polish ADHD Association is the biggest Polish non-government organisation involving parents of hyperactive children, psychologists, pedagogues, psychiatrists, neurologists and other people concerned about ADHD problems. The main head office of the Association is in Krakow and the associated members are in several centres nationwide. We are taking initiatives aimed at drawing attention to the ADHD problem both within society and amongst the authorities responsible for health and education in Poland.
The mission, and foremost aim, of the Association is to initiate changes in the Polish education, health and social care systems, the laws, as well as in the perception of ADHD. This so that people suffering form this disorder can participate in every single sphere of life.

We organise a set of conferences and workshops in addition to the campaign in the media. In March 2006, we launched a campaign “ADHD – the World is Not Enough!”. Conferences are organized for teachers, doctors, parents and personal assistants to children suffering from ADHD. These appear to be very popular with an average of 450 people participating (there were around 1000 participants on a conference in Krakow November 2005). Apart from conferences, we conduct a variety of workshops for smaller groups of parents or teachers, support groups for parents and teachers of hyperactive children as well as therapeutic groups for children suffering from this disorder, and psychological and psychiatric counselling.  In September 2007, we organized a big rock concert on Main Market in Krakow and were supported by many Polish celebrities who wanted to help children affected by ADHD.
In addition, we pride ourselves on having very good relations with the key media in Poland, which helps us educate people about ADHD within the country. We have organised three big press conferences dealing with the effects of hyperactivity.
In order to improve the negative image of people with ADHD with regard to aggression and bad manners, we invited several Polish celebrities suffering from ADHD – amongst them the actress Joanna Szczepkowska and the most popular Polish showman, Szymon Majewski – to cooperate with us in enlightening the public.
We also monitor the actions of the Polish authorities on the subject of ADHD. We insist on implementing some improvements for ADHD people by keeping in touch with representatives of a variety of offices and ministries. We articulate our opinions on legal solutions, we assess the drafts of changes in policies of various institutions and we mediate in some individual cases, mainly in the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Justice.
The Polish ADHD Association is a legally recognized national, non-profit association: identification number 0000240787 in NGO Registry in the Polish Court (a Department of Polish Court holding an official Registry of recognized, legal NGOs).
