The day before our Annual General Meeting, 17 April 2026, we held some informative sessions,
2 hour workshop ‘Together for ADHD Awareness in 2026’ by Chantel Fouche
Christos Skaloumbakas (Psychoeducational Specilaist M.Ed from the Athens Psychiatric Clinic for Children & Adolescents (former Panagiotis & Aglaia Kyriakou Children’s Hospital) gave a presentation entitled ‘ADHD in Greece 20 Years later – Have we succeeded in meeting the Needs’.

What has changed in Legislation, School accommodations and Scientific progress
Legislation in the SEN framework, recognition in education, no national ADHD strategy and fragmentation
Access to assessments, formal recommendations but delays with no follow-ups
Therapy coverage exists but low reimbursements depending on the private sector with no ADHD pathway and no adult structure
Schools – parallel support and improvement on awareness but inconsistent implementation with teacher training gaps
Science – better diagnosis, comorbidity awareness, evidence-based interventions but no standardized national protocols
Pros and Cons – Insights into what Greece has and what Greece does not have
